When Hiccup and Toothless discover a mysterious ancient artifact that unlocks the locations of all new dragon, they and the rest of the Dragons Riders leave Berk and build their own amazing camp on a remote island so they can go on dragon-finding journeys. Taking place a year before the events of "How to Train You Dragon 2" this series has all-new action-packed adventures.
Just to save some time, here are a few highlights:
- Dean Deblois could not be involved on a creative level with Race to the Edge, as he was incredibly busy with How to Train Your Dragon 2. However, they did continue to have regular check-in dinners with Dean to ensure that nothing in Race to the Edge conflicted with the overall continuity of the franchise.
- Doug couldn’t confirm or deny the return of the Skrill in Race to the Edge. What he did say was that the dragon is still out there and “waiting for revenge.”
- The island that you see in the trailer (that’s clearly not Berk) will play a huge part in Race to the Edge. My guess is that the ‘island’ will serve as a temporary headquarters for the Dragon Riders during their adventures across the ‘Edge’.
- There are currently no plans to utilize any of Cressida Cowell’s other characters (sorry, book fans).
